Geography
Not that many years ago geography lessons at school may have seen students poring over globes and maps, reading about civilizations and countries that were so remote that they seemed to bear little relevance to many. With the advent of the internet, as well as cheap and accessible flights to almost anywhere on the planet, our concept of the world has shrunk. Today geography has a much greater relevance to many, with the ability to see, understand and appreciate places that may be on the other side of the globe.
Through pictures and video we have quickly grown accustomed to being able to learn about remote places, and this has seen a significant growth in interest in people wanting to explore these places for themselves. The net result of increased access to information, more accessible media relating to these places, and the ease of reaching them is that we are learning, studying and visiting the geography of the world in ways never before seen by previous generations.
